Kazhydromet took part in a training on rapidly developing floods

On May 22-24, 2023 in Tashkent, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the fifth stage of the intraregional training on the Risk Assessment System for the occurrence of rapidly developing floods in the Central Asian region (SRVBP-RCA) was held.
The objectives of these trainings are to build capacity for the production and use of the system and to maintain the sustainability of regional operations. Hydrologists and meteorologists of the National Hydrometeorological Services of the Central Asian countries participated in the training. Previously, all the students took an introductory online course on the CFS, got acquainted with video materials and practical examples on the use of this system.
Directly at the training itself, an overview of the delineation of the basins of the threshold runoff of the SRVBP, satellite/radar precipitation assessment, examples of numerical weather forecasting and precipitation forecasts were presented. Theoretical materials were allocated to a separate section: a flash flood guide, products that threaten flash floods and increase the risk of flash floods.
