Within the framework of the Nineteenth WMO World Meteorological Congress, an open committee of the Congress, called the WMO Hydrological Assembly, was convened in Geneva, Switzerland on May 26-27, 2023. It employs hydrology consultants from WMO member States from 193 countries. Director General of Kazhydromet State Enterprise Danara Alimbayeva and Deputy Director General Serik Sairov took part in the Hydrological Assembly from Kazakhstan.
The Hydrological Assembly is a key forum for hydrologists representing Member States to make recommendations to Congress and the relevant constituent bodies on issues related to hydrology and to influence the strategic direction of the entire organization by formulating needs, identifying gaps and setting priorities in terms of operational hydrology.
The Hydrological Assembly focuses on promoting the integration of hydrology into the activities of the WMO, mobilizing the operational hydrological community to participate in the work of the WMO governing bodies at all levels.
