On June 14-16, a seminar "The impact of climate change on water resources" was held in Astana, within the walls of the L.N. Gumilev National Eurasian University. The event was attended by specialists of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan. Employees of the RSE "Kazhydromet" Research Center participated both for the purpose of training and familiarization with foreign research experience in the field of climate impact on water resources.
The three-day course included several stages of discussion of problems on the impact of climate change on water resources. On the first day, participants discussed the conditions of climate change and the role of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
The seminar was organized by the Embassy of France in Kazakhstan within the framework of the project of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France "Development of competencies and promotion of French experience in the field of water resources management in Central Asia", the main expert was Adrien Selles, invited hydrogeologist of the Bureau of Geological and Mining Research (BRGM).

The second day was entirely devoted to the issues of surface and groundwater resources. Bota Aitymova, a leading researcher at the Department of Modeling of Hydrological Processes and Hydrological Calculations of Kazhydromet, shared how water resources are estimated for 8 water basins in particular and the republic as a whole, as well as the impact of climate change on the water resources of our country. The participants were also shown the experience of practice in France and shown the methods of adaptation and management of water resources. The third day ended the seminar with a discussion of problems and the presentation of certificates to the listeners.
