On June 14, 2023, the 24th session of the North Eurasian Climate Forum (CEACOF-24) was held. The main objective of the SEACOF forum is to unite the efforts of scientists and specialists in the field of long-term forecasting to improve the quality of forecasting the behavior of the climate system for the upcoming season. The purpose of SEACOF-24 is to assess the current climatic anomalies in Northern Eurasia, compile a consensus forecast of air temperature and precipitation for the upcoming summer of 2023 and discuss the possible consequences of the expected anomalies on the economy and social sphere.
The National Hydrometeorological Services (NGMS) of the CIS countries, including Kazhydromet, traditionally participate online. The organizers provided reports on the following topics: the main features of atmospheric circulation for the winter season of 2022-2023, an overview of seasonal forecasts for the summer of 2023 based on the results of the world's leading prognostic centers.
In the CIS NGMS block, the Kazakhstan Weather Service presented a report: Forecast and fact of anomalies of air temperature and precipitation on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the winter period 2022-2023; Forecast of anomalies of air temperature and precipitation on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the summer of 2023. The speeches of representatives of the countries of Armenia, Belarus and Uzbekistan were also heard.
