On July 4-5, 2023, the "Fourth meeting of the Regional Working Group on Adaptation to Climate Change" was held in Almaty. The organizer of the event was the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
This working group was formed within the framework of the Green Central Asia initiative, consisting of representatives of Central Asian countries, which is working on the preparation of a "Regional Strategy for Adaptation to climate change in Central Asia". From Kazakhstan, the director of the Research Center of the RSE "Kazhydromet" Nurlan Abayev and the head of the Climate Research Department Tursyn Tillakarim participate in the working group.
In December 2022, based on the results of three meetings of regional working groups, a draft "Regional Strategy for Climate Change Adaptation in Central Asia" was prepared and sent to partner countries for consideration and preparation of comments and additions to the draft strategy.
