On July 13-14, 2023, a workshop on the project "The relationship of climate change, land degradation and water resources in the regions of the Aral Sea" on the example of the Kyzylorda region is being held in Kyzylorda. The organizer was the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, local executive bodies of the Kyzylorda region, RSE "Kazhydromet", KazNII, independent experts on climate, water resources and agriculture.
At the meeting, the participants were divided into task forces on climate change, land degradation, water resources and health. After the discussion, together, all the participants analyzed the existing models of climate impact on the Aral Sea catchment area, agriculture, water management and healthcare in the Aral Sea regions. Based on the results of the two-day seminar, the participants provided their conclusions and recommendations on the relationship between climate change, land degradation and water resources in the Aral Sea regions.
