On September 4-5, 2023, Astana hosted the third meeting of the Advisory Council of the Interstate Commission for Sustainable Development of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
The event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan responsible for the environment, ecology and natural resources.
On the first day of the council's work, the director of the Research Center of RSE "Kazhydromet" Nurlan Abayev made a report. The National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan, within the framework of the implementation of the Green Central Asia project, participates in the regional working group on the development of a strategy for adaptation to climate change, climate risk management in Central Asia, as well as in order to monitor snow cover and glacier melting, is working on the implementation of the MODSNOW (GFZ) model.
At the end of the two-day meeting, the decisions of the Advisory Council were discussed and the results of the meeting were summed up.
