On September 21-22, 2023, the Second High-level Dialogue on Climate Change and Resilience in the Central Asian Region was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The conference was organized jointly with UNDP with the support of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan. The event was attended by about 100 representatives of national, regional, international organizations and research institutes.
The speaker from the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan was the director of the Research Center of RSE "Kazhydromet" Nurlan Abayev. The report "Monitoring Climate Change in the Republic of Kazakhstan" reflected the main features of the likely climate change in Kazakhstan. Namely, the fact that in our country it is changing faster than the global one. In the future, a widespread increase in air temperature and a reduction in precipitation is predicted. Winters will be warmer and wetter. But climate change is heterogeneous and each region has a unique degree of exposure and vulnerability to climate change.
