Kazhydromet is taking courses on drought monitoring

From October 2 to 5, 2023, employees of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan are trained under the Program of group visits from the Halle-Wittenberg University.Martin Luther, Germany in the framework of the Green Central Asia project. Representatives of the German university Dr. Muhammad Usman and Clara Atenstedt conduct an offline course for specialists of the Department of agrometeorological forecasting of RSE "Kazhydromet".
The guests talked about Droughtmap-ASB and its features.
Droughtmap-ASB is a drought monitoring tool specially developed for Central Asian countries and is used in regions adjacent to the Aral Sea where agricultural irrigation is carried out.
The program developed by the German university helps to monitor drought using satellite data, as well as integrate historical drought data, basic maps and irrigation management systems into it. The tool allows you to receive monitoring results every 15 days, month and season in the form of a bulletin, which helps to make decisions for government organizations and farmers.
