Published 12.10.2023 The National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan was visited by students of the capital's school No. 22. The guys participate in the project "Territory of knowledge". For the competition, each class must prepare a video project about an interesting historical place in their city.
The students chose Kazhydromet, namely, they decided to tell about the Astana meteorological station and about the work of the Weather Service. The peculiarity of the metropolitan Weather Station is that it is located in a building built in 1916. This is an architectural monument built by the Yekaterinburg Observatory on behalf of the Nikolaev Main Physical Observatory, and is associated with the birth of the meteorological service of the city. For more than 150 years it has been used for its original purpose. In honor of the centenary of the National Hydrometeorological Service in 2022, a museum of the history of the Service was opened in the Kazhydromet building.
During the excursion, the children visited the Astana Meteorological Station, the museum and the Hydrometeorological Center. We asked questions to specialists and looked at the work of observers and weather forecasters. The staff of Kazhydromet RSE wished the students victories in the competition.
