During the period from 14 to 15 December 2023, Representatives of the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services from the regions of the South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia) and Kazakhstan gathered in Geneva, Switzerland.
The purpose of the event was to discuss addressing gaps in surveillance, monitoring and forecasting under the Early Warning for All initiative in the subregion. The event was organized by the WMO Secretariat and the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Finnish Meteorological Institute and the Finnish Environment Institute.
On behalf of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan, the Director General, Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the WMO Danara Alimbaeva spoke at the meeting.
In her report, D. Alimbayeva thanked the World Meteorological Organization for the opportunity to speak at this event, and presented in her report information on the current state of monitoring and forecasting systems, plans and possible directions for the development of warning systems for natural hydrometeorological phenomena, both national and regional levels.
