On January 18, 2024, the Republican State Enterprise Kazhydromet of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Turkish State Meteorological Service of the Republic of Turkey held an online meeting to discuss updating the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, expanding the areas of interaction within the framework of this document.
The previous Memorandum between the hydrometeorological services of Kazakhstan and Turkey was signed in 2017 for a period of five years. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the re-signing of the Memorandum, the approval of new paragraphs of the document, the expansion and clarification of points of contact in the work of the two hydrometeorological services.
According to the Memorandum, hydrometeorologists of the two countries carry out joint activities in terms of improving hydrometeorological, climatic and synoptic forecasts, environmental monitoring, including the use of experience in the field of cross-border cooperation, as well as training and consultations in terms of staff development.
After agreeing on the draft Memorandum, Kazakh and Turkish specialists will officially sign the document.
