In the second decade of January in the south and south-east of the republic in the areas of winter crops cultivation, the average air temperature for the decade in most areas turned out to be 2-4 ° C above normal, precipitation fell mostly more than normal.
The past precipitation during the decade contributed to an increase in the height of the snow cover, in the southeast the height of the snow cover was 8-15 cm, in places it reached up to 17-27 cm, in the south no more than 2-7 cm. The minimum temperature on the surface of soil and snow in the southeast dropped to minus 19...29 ° C, in the south minus 2 ... 13 ° C, which created unfavorable conditions for overwintering winter crops and can lead to freezing of crops in the absence or insignificant snow cover. In some areas and in the vicinity of the Zhalanash and Merke weather stations, a deeper snow cover (21-27 cm) was established, which had a protective effect on plants.
Intense thaws that took from 1 to 4 days in the southern regions could reduce the winter hardiness of poorly developed winter wheat crops.
The minimum soil temperature at the depth of the tillering node of winter wheat in the south and south-east of the country is 0 °C to minus 3 °C.
The agrometeorological conditions for winter wheat wintering were satisfactory. There was no resumption of vegetation during the decade.
At the end of the decade, pastures in most regions were moderately grazed, pastures in the Almaty region (Village No. 4 station), in the Zhetysu region (Akzhar station), in the West Kazakhstan region (Buldurt, Zhalpaktal and Taipak stations), in the Karaganda region (Bektauata station) were severely grazed.
Frozen sod and wet sod were observed on a larger area of pasture cattle breeding in some pastures in Zhetysu and Mangystau regions.
