In the first decade of February, in the areas of winter crops cultivation in the south and south-east of the republic, the temperature background was mainly above normal by 1...4 ° C, precipitation was mainly observed near and below normal in the south-east and more than normal in the south of the country.
The past intense thaws in the south and southeast for up to 2-6 days, alternating with nighttime negative air temperatures in the south to minus 9 ° C and in the southeast to minus 9...17 ° C, in places to minus 19...22 ° C, can affect the winter hardiness of poorly developed winter wheat crops (development phase: shoots - 3rd sheet).
In the Almaty region, in the areas of winter crops cultivation, on the last day of the decade, the height of the snow cover ranged from 10 to 13 cm, in the vicinity of the Zhalanash weather station, a deeper snow cover of up to 29 cm was established, which had a protective effect on plants.
In Zhambyl, Zhetysu and Turkestan regions, snow cover on the last day of the decade reached from 5-11 cm to 15-30 cm, in some places it was absent, which, with a decrease in air temperature, can affect the conditions of overwintering crops.
The minimum soil temperature at the depth of the tillering node (3 cm) of winter wheat was minus 4 °C in the Almaty region, 0 ° C in the Zhambyl region and in the Turkestan regions.
The agrometeorological conditions for wintering winter crops were satisfactory, due to the thawing weather, the winter hardiness of plants decreased.
At the end of the decade, pastures in most regions were moderately grazed, pastures in the Almaty region (Aidarly station), in the Zhetysu region (Akzhar station), in the West Kazakhstan region (Buldurt, Taipak, Zhalpaktal stations) were severely grazed.
Frozen sod and wet sod were observed on a larger area of pasture livestock breeding in some pastures in Zhetysu and Zhambyl, Almaty, Mangystau regions.
