On February 21, 2024, a meeting of the steering committee of the Regional Program "Climate Risk Management in Central Asia", implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) within the framework of the Green Central Asia initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The program is aimed at developing the capacity to reduce transboundary climate risks associated with water resources and provides advisory support to watershed councils, hydrometeorological services and emergency centers.
During the meeting in Uzbekistan, the status of the project implementation and the operational plan for the next two years were presented. Participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were given the opportunity to speak and share their experiences.
The second half of the event was devoted to discussing topical issues and planned project activities for 2024-2025. The meeting of the committee ended with the summing up and approval of the operational plan for the next two years.
