A brief agrometeorological overview for The 2nd decade of March 2024

In the second decade of March in the south and south-east of the republic in the areas of cultivation of winter crops, the temperature background was above normal by 1 ... 2C, almost everywhere precipitation fell more than normal.
In the observed sites in the Turkestan region, the condition of winter wheat crops is good. The development phase of the "3rd leaf" is "tillering". The average height of plants reaches 6-11 cm, the average number of plants per 1 m2 ranges from 190 to 398 pcs.
In the observed sites in Zhambyl region, the resumption of winter wheat vegetation is noted, the phase of development "shoots" – "3rd leaf". The condition of the plants is mostly good.
In the second decade of March, the resumption of winter wheat vegetation was not observed in Zhetysu and Almaty regions.
The minimum soil temperature at the depth of the tillering node (3cm) of winter wheat in the southeast ranged from 0C to minus 1C.
The agrometeorological conditions of winter wheat were satisfactory.
In the south of the republic, the resumption of vegetation is everywhere observed on the crops of perennial alfalfa grasses. The condition of the herbs is mostly good. The height of the grasses reaches 4-8 cm, the average number of plants per 1m2 ranges from 158 to 410 pcs.
Most of the pastures at the end of the decade were poorly grazed, pastures in the Almaty region (Aidarly station), in the Zhetysu region (Akzhar station), in the West Kazakhstan region (Buldurt, Taipak stations), in the Karaganda region (Bektauata station) and Ulytau region (Zhetykonur station) were severely grazed, some pastures were moderately grazed in Almaty region (Village station No. 4), in Atyrau region (Novy Ushtogan station), in West Kazakhstan region (Janybek station), in Kostanay region (Ekiden station) and in Mangystau region (Sam station).
Wet sod was observed on most of the pastures, frozen sod was observed mainly in the West Kazakhstan region, on some pastures in the Karaganda and Kostanay regions, dry sod in the Turkestan region (Kyzylkum station).
