According to the forecasts of Roshydromet, based on observational data in the upper zone of the Ural River flow formation, the expected volumes of spring flooding will exceed the long-term average values and indicators for 2023 by 2-2.5 times.
In particular:
In the Verkhneuralsky reservoir (Chelyabinsk region of the Russian Federation), the flood volume is expected to range from 0.36 to 0.46 cubic kilometers, which is 9 times higher than last year and is approaching the maximum long-term characteristics.
The projected volume of flooding in the Iriklinsky reservoir (Orenburg region of the Russian Federation) is in the range from 2.5 to 3.5 cubic kilometers, which is almost twice the data for 2023 and is approaching a historical maximum.
For the Sakmara-Tatarskaya Kargala section (Orenburg region of the Russian Federation), the flood volume is projected from 5.0 to 6.0 cubic kilometers, which is also higher than the previous year.
On the territory of Kazakhstan, the expected timing of opening the river at the Ural-Kushum hydropost (West Kazakhstan region) is projected in the period from April 7 to April 12, 2024. It is expected that the volume of spring flooding in the Ural-Kushum section will range from 11.0 to 15.0 cubic kilometers, which is significantly higher than last year and is approaching record values.
