A brief agrometeorological overview for The 2nd decade of April 2024

In the second decade of April, favorable conditions for the growth and development of winter wheat were mainly observed in the south and south-east of the republic. The precipitation contributed to the accumulation of moisture in the soil.
In the observed sites in the Almaty region, the condition of winter wheat is mostly good, the "tillering" phase - "exit into the tube" continues. The height of the plants is 8-10 cm. In the Zhambyl region, the condition of winter wheat in the observed areas is everywhere good, the phase of development of the "3rd leaf" is "exit into the tube". The average height of plants reaches 15-27 cm, the average number of plants per 1 m2 was 110 pcs. In the Zhetysu region, the condition of winter wheat is good, the development phase is "tillering". The resumption of winter wheat vegetation is noted in the Taldykorgan weather station district. The height of the plants reaches 15-17 cm, the average number of plants per 1 m2 was 109 pcs. (Taldykorgan weather station). In the Turkestan region, the condition of winter wheat is everywhere good, the "tillering" phase continues – "the appearance of the lower stem node". The height of the plants reaches 14-27 cm, low-growing crops up to 10 cm around the Kazygurt station, the total number of plants per 1 m2 was 269 pcs. At the beginning of the decade, the treatment of weeds with herbicides began.
Sowing of spring grain crops continues in the south and south-east of the republic. After pre-tillage, spring barley is sown, the quality of the sowing and the condition of the plants are good. In the Almaty region, the observed areas of spring wheat are marked in the "shoots" phase - "3rd leaf". Spring barley sowing has begun in Zhambyl district. The phase of "grain germination" - "3rd leaf" is marked on spring barley crops in Zhambyl region. The height of the plants is 7-10 cm. The average number of plants per 1 m2 is 264 pcs. In the Turkestan region, the development phase of "grain germination" - "formation of nodular roots" is noted on spring barley crops. The height of the plants is 10 cm, the average number of plants per 1 m2 is 262 pcs.
In the Saryagash district around the Oshakty agropost of the Turkestan region, after pre-processing the fields, they began sowing corn. In the observed areas in orchards of fruit crops (apple, pear, cherry, raspberry), the phase of development "bud swelling" – "bud budding" is noted, in apple orchards around Zharkent stations of the Zhetysui region, the phase of "flowering" is noted. In the southern regions of the republic, the "stem growth" phase is observed on crops of perennial grasses (alfalfa, clover, esparcet, wheatgrass, granary). The condition of the herbs is excellent and good.
During the passage of spring floods, flooding of observation sites with spring crops was noted in the Akmola region in Bulandinsky (Zhuravlevka agropost) and Astrakhan district (Zhaltyr MS), in the Kostanay region in Mendykarinsky district (Mikhailovka MS), in the B.Mailin district (Tobol MS), in Aulikolsky district (Novonezhenka agropost), in Altynsarinsky district (Silantievka agropost) and partially flooded fields in Zhitikarinsky (Stepnovskoye agropost) and Karasu district (MS Karasu).
Grazing was carried out everywhere on pastures. The condition of the sod on pastures is mostly dry, on some pastures in Almaty, West Kazakhstan and Kostanay regions the sod is raw. The overall visual assessment of grassland in pastures is mostly "good", in some pastures "satisfactory", "excellent" condition in Zhambyl and Enbekshikazakh districts of Almaty region, in Beineu district of Mangystau region and Sozak district of Turkestan region.
