A clarification to the drought forecast for May was issued by Kazhydromet

Taking into account the precipitation that fell during April and the predicted weather conditions, the area of territories at risk of drought is increasing in Kazakhstan.

Drought is expected
in Karmakshi and Shiili districts of Kyzylorda region;
in Amangeldy district of Kostanay region;
in the Shetsky district of the Karaganda region.

Conditions are predicted to be moderately humid:
in Kostanay region in Karasu district;
in Akmola region in Akkol, Atbasar and Sandyktau districts;
in the Pavlodar region in Aktogay, Uspensky and in the vicinity of Pavlodar;
in the West Kazakhstan region in Burlinsky, Chingirlau, Syrym and Karatyubinsky districts;
in Aktobe region in Kobdinsky district.

In the rest of the country, humidification in May is expected to be close to long-term values.
We also inform you that on May 3, a storm warning was issued about the onset of drought in the Karmakshi and Shiili districts of the Kyzylorda region in the next 10 days.
