In the first decade of August, hot weather persisted in most of Kazakhstan, the thermometer columns rose to +32+42°C, only in the northern regions at the end of the decade there was a decrease in air temperature.
Records in both air temperature and precipitation were observed at individual stations. On August 9, at the meteorological station (hereinafter - MS) Balkhash (Karaganda region), the temperature reached +37.6°C, the temperature record of 2002 was updated (+36.6°C). For example, on August 8 at MS Tobol 89 mm fell (Kostanay region), which significantly exceeds the monthly norm, the norm for the month is 35 mm, 50 mm fell on MS Egindykol (Akmola region), with a norm of 29 mm for the month, 46 mm fell on MS Uspensk (Pavlodar region), with a norm of 32 mm. During the decade, the wind increased to 15-25 m/s, thunderstorms, hail, fog were observed, and a dust storm in the south of the country.
In the second half of August, in most of Kazakhstan, the main background air temperature was +17+25 °C, and in the southern half, on some days, the temperature dropped to +25+30 °C.
The average monthly air temperature in Astana in August was +18.5°C, with a norm of 19.1°C. The maximum air temperature was recorded on August 1 and amounted to +36.3°C, and the minimum temperature on August 28 was +9.2°C. The abnormal amount of precipitation stands out especially - 113 mm, which is 364% of the average norm for the month (norm 31 mm). At the same time, strong hail was observed on August 8-9.
