On September 11, 2024, the 35th session of the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS ICH) took place. This year, it was held offline in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The meeting was attended by the heads of National Hydrometeorological Services of the CIS countries and representatives of the CIS Executive Committee.
Kazakhstan was represented at the Council by the National Hydrometeorological Service, led by its General Director, Danara Alimbaeva. In her speech, D. Alimbaeva briefly outlined the main activities of RSE "Kazhydromet" and plans for the development of the ground observation network.
"By 2030, RSE 'Kazhydromet' plans to open 42 new hydrological posts as part of the 'Concept for the Development of Water Resources Management System of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024-2030.' These posts are planned to be located in flood-prone areas of river basins that are not yet covered by monitoring," noted D. Alimbaeva.
The session concluded with decisions that outline further cooperation between the National Hydrometeorological Services of the CIS member states for the near future (2024-2025) and the signing of several bilateral documents.
