On September 18, 2024, the National Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in a meeting of the leadership of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Kazhydromet RSE took part online. The main purpose of the meeting was the signing of a trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation.
It should be noted that the cooperation between al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Kazhydromet RSE has been going on for decades, as this is the only university that trains key specialists for the hydrometeorological industry. Kazhydromet has been cooperating with the Finnish Meteorological Institute for more than 12 years and has achieved certain results. One of these achievements was the introduction of the Silam regional model for predicting the spread of impurities in the atmosphere into the operational activities of Kazhydromet, which significantly increased our capabilities in the field of monitoring and forecasting air pollution.
Danara Alimbayeva, Director General of Kazhydromet RSE, stressed in her speech that this agreement opens up new horizons for further cooperation in the field of meteorology and air quality.
- I am sure that our cooperation will not only strengthen the ties between our institutions, but also have a significant impact on the development of science and the introduction of new practices in atmospheric air monitoring in Kazakhstan, D. Alimbayeva noted.
