A meeting on the use of water resources of the Shu and Talas rivers was held in Bishkek

On December 4, 2024, Bishkek hosted the 12th meeting of the Working Group on Environmental Protection under the Secretariat of the Commission of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on the Use of Water Resources of the Shu and Talas Rivers (RGEOS).
The meeting was attended by representatives of Kazakhstan, including specialists from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and RSE Kazhydromet, as well as employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic. Dmitry Prudtskikh, Regional Development Advisor at the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, was also present.
The following issues were discussed on the agenda:
1. Monitoring of water quality.
2. Hydrometeorological monitoring.
3. Hydrodynamic modeling.
4. Work plan for 2025.
The results of the meeting will be presented at the 35th meeting of the Commission, and the next meeting of the RGS will be held in Kazakhstan in the fourth quarter of 2025.
