Kazhydromet took part in the meeting of the Center for Forecasting rapidly developing Floods

Regular meetings on the Rapid Flood and Flood Early Warning System (FFGS/WGC) were held in Istanbul, Turkey, from December 16 to 18, 2024.
Serik Sairov, First Deputy Director General of Kazhydromet RSE, took part in the meeting from Kazakhstan.
The event included:
• Second meeting of the Program Management Committee (CCM);
• Joint meeting of the CCU and the Executive Group (IG);
• A separate IG meeting.
Key issues on the agenda:
• Approval of the FFGS Sustainable Development Strategy and training programs;
• Updating the system implementation plan;
• Analysis of current programs, training plans and marketing strategies.
Objectives of the events:
• coordination of strategic objectives and development of the system;
• Discussing performance and strengthening the long-term sustainability of FFGS;
• Assessment of the implementation of the decisions of previous meetings and planning of further steps.
The results of the meetings are aimed at improving flood forecasting and increasing preparedness for their consequences. Kazhydromet's participation in such meetings contributes to improving public safety, strengthening economic stability and further development of the country's hydrometeorological service.
