Yekaterinburg hosted the XVI meeting of the Joint Russian-Kazakh Commission on the Joint Use and Protection of Transboundary Water Bodies, as well as the 6th meeting of the Working Group on Cooperation in Flood Control.
Asset Kaliev, First Deputy General Director of RSE Kazhydromet, took part in the meetings.
The participants discussed the use and protection of transboundary water bodies, the results of the spring flood, the filling of reservoirs and the provision of water resources to the population and economy.
Special attention was paid to the results of the state monitoring of the water resources of transboundary rivers and the implementation of water protection measures. The parties also discussed joint research of the basins of large rivers, including the Urals and Irtysh, as well as the development of the water balance of the Karazen and Saryozen.
In addition, the meeting discussed issues of further cooperation during the passage of floods and floods, approved the composition and work plans of joint working groups for 2027.
Kazhydromet's participation in the work of the commission contributes to the further exchange of hydrometeorological information and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries on monitoring and management of water resources of transboundary rivers.
