Issues of preservation of the Caspian Sea discussed in Mangystau region

A high-level dialogue was held in Mangystau region today on the ecological state of the Caspian Sea and issues of international cooperation in its conservation.
The event was attended by Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov and employees of RSE Kazhydromet
During the meeting, the UNDP project "Increasing Resilience in the face of declining Caspian Sea levels", implemented with the financial support of the Government of Japan, was presented.
The participants discussed the lowering of the Caspian Sea level, climate change, marine pollution and the reduction of biodiversity. Special attention is paid to the need to use scientific data and digital technologies to assess ongoing changes and plan the development of coastal areas.
Kazhydromet contributes to the monitoring of the hydrometeorological and ecological conditions of the Caspian Sea, providing the collection and analysis of data necessary for making scientifically sound decisions.
During the dialogue, it was noted that the preservation of the Caspian Sea requires the consolidation of efforts by government agencies, international organizations, the scientific community and civil society.
