Every year on September 18, since 2003, the World Water Monitoring Day is celebrated. On this day, water samples are taken in reservoirs to assess the quality and safety for life.
In our country, monitoring of water bodies is carried out by the RSE "Kazhydromet". Monitoring of the quality state of surface and sea waters is carried out at 424 gauges located at 143 water bodies, including 93 rivers, 31 lakes, 15 reservoirs, 3 canals and 1 sea. In general, in the republic, observations are carried out on 60 quality indicators such as: suspended solids, color, dissolved oxygen, pH, magnesium, calcium, chlorides, sulfates, biogenic and organic substances, heavy metals, pesticides, etc.
All analyzes are carried out by the laboratories of the RSE "Kazhydromet", accredited for compliance with the international standard ISO IEC 17025.
In order to ensure open access of the population to environmental information on the state of the environment in Kazakhstan, an interactive map has been developed on the quality of surface water in Kazakhstan http://apps.kazhydromet.kz:3838/app_dem_water_visual/, on which you can find out what quality class each section of water bodies in Kazakhstan belongs to and by what indicators exceeding the standards is observed.
