The Caspian Sea is a partially frozen sea, with the shallow northern part of the sea (belonging to Kazakhstan) freezing annually. In the middle part of the sea, ice appears along the coasts only in severe winters, in the southern part of the sea, there is no ice.
RSE "Kazhydromet" makes a weekly forecast of the level of the Caspian Sea.In the northern part of the Caspian Sea, the level fluctuation is expected around minus 28.25 m with a rise to the maximum level of minus 27.86 m and a decline to the minimum level of minus 28.68 m.
In the Middle part of the Caspian Sea, sea level fluctuation is expected around minus 28.35 m, with a rise to a maximum of minus 28.03 m and a decline to a minimum of minus 28.77 m.
The actual state of the water surface of the Caspian Sea for the period from 10 to 18 December 2020 corresponds to the previous weekly forecast.
