Observations at the meteorological station of the Akmola regional agronomic organization near the village of Alekseevka were started in 1909. From 1909-1926, the meteorological station functioned at the agronomic point. From 1926-1932, the rain-measuring post was located at the school of working youth of the village of Alekseevka. Since 1930, the meteorological station has been operating without interruption. When organizing the station, the weather site was located in the experimental garden of the agronomic point. On July 28, 1934, the weather site was moved 1.5 km to the North-northeast to the South-Eastern outskirts of the village of Alekseevka.
Currently, the weather station is located almost in the center of the city. There are single-storey buildings around, an asphalt road runs at a distance of 40 m, and a railway runs at a distance of 200 m.
The station was named alekseyevskoye until June 10, 1998, when it was renamed Akkol.

The station monitors: atmospheric phenomena, air temperature and soil surface, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind direction and speed, meteorological visibility range, and the state of the radiation background. In winter, we monitor the state and height of the snow cover, make snow surveys along the field route, and record the freezing of the soil.
