In the third decade of May, in the areas of winter wheat cultivation in the south and south-east of the country, the high temperature background and light precipitation were less favorable for the growth and development of plants. In the observed areas, winter wheat was in the phase: the appearance of the lower stem node-earing. The height of the plants reached from 30 to 65 cm, low-growing crops from 19 to 22 cm. The average number of stems per 1 m2 reaches 252-573 pcs., in some places up to 842 pcs., stems with an ear of 230-557 pcs., and in some areas up to 775 pcs. The average number of spikelets in an ear of winter wheat is 14-20 pcs., of which up to 3 pcs. are underdeveloped. The condition of the plants is mostly good, in some places satisfactory, where there are a lot of weeds, the oppression of cultivated plants is noticeable and they have begun to treat them with herbicides. In the vicinity of MS Kyrgyzsay and MS Taldykorgan of Almaty region, at the beginning of the decade, vegetation irrigation of wheat crops began.
In the past decade, all grain-growing areas of the northern half of the republic continued to sow spring grain crops. The increased temperature background and precipitation mostly below normal created satisfactory conditions for the growth and development of spring grain crops.
