Soil freezing on April 10, 2026
As of April 10, 2026, soil freezing persists in the northwest, north, northeast, and center of the country. In Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Ulytau regions, as well as in the south and southwest of the country, the soil has completely thawed.
In the Akmola region, the maximum freezing depth is 131-165 cm in the Tselinograd district, 122-142 cm in the Astrakhan and Zhaksyn districts, and 139cm in the city of Kokshetau. The top layer of soil in the region has thawed to a depth of 23-87 cm. Complete thawing of the soil is noted in Atbasarsky, Arshalinsky, Egindykolsky, partly in Burabaysky districts and in Astana.
In Kostanay region, the maximum freezing depth is 202cm in Nauruzum district, 112-150 cm in Sarykolsky, Fedorovsky, Auliekolsky, Karasu and Denisovsky districts, up to 67-72 cm in Uzunkol and partly in Karabalyk districts. The thawing of the topsoil in these areas ranges from 13 to 76 cm. In the rest of the region, the soil has completely thawed.
In most of the Pavlodar region, freezing persists in the soil layer from 24-70 cm to 100-149 cm. The greatest depth of freezing is in Sharbakta (215cm) and Kashyr (206cm) districts. The soil has thawed in the Pavlodar region, in the cities of Pavlodar, Yekibastuz and partly in Yertis (Panfilovo), Zhelezinsky (Petropavlovsk), Sharbaktinsky (Shaldai) districts.
Active thawing continues in the North Kazakhstan region, and the soil has completely thawed in Ayyrtau, Akzhar, Yesil, Mamlyut, and Ualikhan districts. Frozen soil remains in the area of Musrepov in a layer from 30 to 120 cm, in Tayynshynsky – from 60 to 136cm, in Timiryazevsky – from 47cm to 101cm, as well as in the areas of M. Zhumabayev, Zhambyl, Kyzylzharsky districts and in the city of Petropavlovsk up to 40-91 cm.
In the East Kazakhstan region, freezing persists in Borodulikhinsky, Ulansky, Beskaragai districts to a depth of 63-103 cm, in Altai up to 23 cm, active thawing is underway.
In the Karaganda region, the soil has thawed almost throughout the territory, and freezing in the soil layer of 36-136 cm persists only in the Osakarovsky district.
