Temperature record of 71 years ago was broken in Kazakhstan

In June 2026, several long-term temperature records were updated in Kazakhstan. The record in Pavlodar turned out to be the oldest, which was held for 71 years.
In most of Kazakhstan, June turned out to be 1-5 degrees hotter than the climatic norm. The daytime air temperature in most regions was +30...+38 degrees, and in the south of the country it reached +43 degrees in some places. Forecasters explained this weather by the influence of dry tropical air masses.
At the same time, the opposite pattern was observed in western Kazakhstan: due to Atlantic cyclones, cooler and rainy weather was established here. In some areas, precipitation exceeded the climatic norm by 2-5 times.
On June 1, the air in Pavlodar warmed up to +36.8 degrees, exceeding the previous maximum in 1955, when the temperature reached +36.1 degrees.
On the same day, a new record was set in Almaty. The air temperature reached +34.5 degrees, exceeding the 1967 figure (+34.4 degrees).
On June 8, thermometers in Astana rose to +33.7 degrees, which was higher than the record of 2023 (+33.6).
In addition to abnormally high temperatures, June was marked by record precipitation. In a number of regions, one or two monthly rain rates fell per day.
So, on June 3, 45 millimeters of precipitation fell at the Uil weather station in the Aktobe region at a monthly rate of 22 millimeters, and in Aktobe — 33 millimeters at a rate of 30 millimeters.
One of the heaviest rains was on June 9 at Mikhailovka station in Kostanay region, where 64 millimeters of precipitation fell during the day with a monthly norm of 39 millimeters. On June 24, 49 millimeters fell at the Sarkand station in the Zhetysu region at a rate of 40 millimeters, and on June 29 at the Timiryazevo station in the North Kazakhstan region - 50 millimeters at a rate of 42 millimeters.
