Environmental monitoring of the Caspian sea

RSE "Kazhydromet" within the framework of the budget subprogram 100 "Environmental monitoring" conducts environmental monitoring of the quality of seawater and bottom sediments in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea.

1. Monitoring of the state of seawater
Monitoring of the water quality of the Caspian Sea is carried out at 50 coastal points:
- in the Northern Caspian Sea on the territory of Atyrau region at 22 points (sea shipping channel (2), the coast of the river Zhaiyk (5), the coast of the Volga River (5), the stations of the island of the bay of Shalygi (5), the village of Zhanbai (5))
- in the Middle Caspian Sea on the territory of the Mangystau region at 28 points (Aktau (4), Fort Shevchenko, Fetisovo, Kalamkas, Karabogaz, dam area, Kuryk settlement area, Adamtas lighthouse area, Western Buzachi, Shakpak-Ata, Kanga, Kyzylozen, Saura, Kalyn Arbat Necropolis, Kyzylkum, Northern Kenderli, South Kenderli, Karazhanbas, Arman deposits)
The quality of marine waters is determined by 37 indicators: 1) visual observations, 2) temperature, 3) transparency, 4) hydrogen index, 5) dissolved oxygen, 6) suspended solids, 7) dry residue, 8) mineralization, 9) sulfates, 10) chlorides, 11) bicarbonates, 12) calcium, 13) magnesium, 14) BPK5, 15) COD, 16) hardness,17) ammonium salt, 18) nitrite nitrogen, 19) nitrate nitrogen, 20) potassium, 21) sodium,22) total phosphorus, 23) phosphates, 24) total iron, 25) surfactant, 26) phenols, 27) petroleum products, 28) lead, 29) copper, 30) zinc, 31) common chromium, 32) chromium (6+), 33) boron, 34) Pesticides alpha–HCG, 35) Pesticides gamma-HCG,36) Pesticides 4,4-DDE, 37) Pesticides 4,4-DDT
- in Mangystau region at 28 coastal points in the Middle Caspian Sea: Aktau coastal stations at 4 control points: Aktau, recreation area (2 points) and Aktau, port area (2 points), Fort Shevchenko (1 point), Fetisovo (1 point), Kalamkas (1 point), Karabogaz (1 point), dam area (3 points), P. district Kuryk (3 points), Adamtas lighthouse area (3 points), Western Buzachi (1 point), Shakpak-Ata (1 point), Kanga (1 point), Kyzylozen (1 point), Saura (1 point), Kalyn Arbat Necropolis (1 point), Kyzylkum (1 point), North Kenderli (1 point), South Kenderli (1 point), Karazhanbas (1 point), Arman (1 point) deposits.

2. Monitoring of the quality of bottom sediments is carried out 2 times a year (in spring and autumn):
- in the Atyrau region at 22 coastal points in the Northern Caspian: the sea shipping channel – 2 points, the seashore of the Zhaiyk river – 5 points, the seashore of the Volga River – 5 points, the stations of the island of the bay of Shalygi - 5 points, the village of Zhanbai - 5 points. The content of petroleum products, copper, chromium, cadmium, nickel, manganese, lead, zinc is determined.
- in Mangystau region at 28 coastal points in the Middle Caspian Sea: Aktau (4 points); coastal stations Fort Shevchenko (1 point), Fetisovo (1 point), Kalamkas (1 point), Karabogaz (1 point), dam area (3 points), Kuryk village area (3 points), Adamtas lighthouse area (3 points), Western Buzachi (1 point), Shakpak-Ata (1 point), Kanga (1 point), Kyzylozen (1 point), Saura (1 point), Kalyn Arbat Necropolis (1 point), Kyzylkum (1 point), Northern Kenderli (1 point), South Kenderli (1 point), Karazhanbas (1 point), Arman (1 point) deposits.
