The Annual Bulletin on Monitoring Rainfall-Triggered Mudflow Hazard in the Mountainous Territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan contains information on meteorological conditions and climate anomalies in mountainous areas during the mudflow-hazard season, as well as data on mudflow occurrences.
In describing climatic conditions in mudflow-prone areas, climate normals for the 1991–2020 period, as recommended by the World Meteorological Organization, were used. Anomalies of mean monthly near-surface air temperature and monthly precipitation totals were determined relative to long-term average values.
Information on mudflow formation conditions serves as a scientific basis for assessing the impact of climate change on mudflow-forming processes, developing adaptation measures, and ensuring the sustainable development of territories in Kazakhstan exposed to mudflow hazards.
The Annual Bulletin on Monitoring Rainfall-Triggered Mudflow Hazard in the Mountainous Territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan is intended for government authorities and specialists whose work is related to mountainous regions.
